Removal of a tooth from its socket in the jaw bone is called an extraction. There can be multiple reasons for undergoing a dental extraction, these include extensive decay, broken teeth, unerupted teeth, orthodontic corrections, gum diseases, impacted teeth ,etc. Painful wisdom teeth are also very commonly extracted.

At Dhriti Dental, we ensure a pain-free extraction protocol and provide optimum post-operative care.

Why is a Tooth Extraction Needed?

A tooth may be removed because of multiple reasons, these are listed below:

  1. Gross Decay: Extensive caries cause teeth to break down, resulting in the loss of tooth structure, rendering them unrestorable. Such teeth need to be extracted and replaced.
  2. Fracture/Dental Trauma: A fall or an accident may lead to fracture of the tooth or cause the tooth to become mobile. Such teeth have poor prognosis and may need to be extracted. Opening bottle caps with teeth may also fracture them to an extent where they cannot be restored.
  3. Unrestorable Teeth: Previously restored teeth (cracked tooth, vertical root fractures, post and core, large fillings etc..) may get fractured. Treating such fractures may have poor prognosis due to cracks, reinfection and root fractures, etc. These teeth must be extracted and replaced.
  4. Periodontal Disease: Extensive gum diseases cause teeth to become loose. Such teeth must not be retained and extracted.
  5. Impacted Teeth: Some teeth like wisdom teeth, etc. may not erupt or partially erupt and get stuck in the bone, these teeth are removed by surgical extraction.
  6. Orthodontic Treatment: Some teeth may be removed for better results in orthodontic treatment.

Types of Tooth Extractions We Offer

At Dhriti Dental, our trained oral surgeons are equipped to provide all types of extractions including:

  1. Simple Extraction (Non-surgical extraction): Relatively less complicated extractions, where the tooth is visible in the mouth. This is generally performed when teeth are mobile, for orthodontic treatment or when the tooth has enough structure above the gums to be removed with ease. Treatment is performed under local anaesthesia and over the counter pain relief medications are generally enough to provide relief post-operatively. The charges for simple extraction begin at Rs 2000 at Dhriti Dental, Hyderabad.
  2. Surgical Extraction: Surgical extractions are performed when the tooth is not visible in the oral cavity. This is done for badly decayed or broken-down teeth, impacted teeth, teeth associated with cysts and tumors, etc. Stronger pain killers are prescribed by the treating surgeon. The charges for surgical extraction start at Rs 2500 at Dhriti Dental, Hyderabad.
  3. Wisdom Tooth Extractions: Wisdom teeth often need extensive surgical procedures to be removed. Our expert oral surgeon provides best pre and post-operative management for wisdom tooth surgeries, ensuring a comfortable experience. The charges for surgical wisdom tooth extractions begin at Rs 4000 at Dhriti Dental, Hyderabad.
